LeJOG Day 6 Glasgow To Fort Willam

Day 6 was all set to be cracker. An off road cycle path would take us all the way to Glasgow Green to meet our VIP guide across the rest of the city - my cousin John. From there we'd head out to Loch Lomond, and say our fairwells in Ballock.

Well it would have been a cracker if it hadn't absolutely pished down 3 minutes into the ride. By the time we got to Glasgow Green we were drenched and frozen solid. Our timings were all off so we missed John and decided to press on, avoiding the onset of hyperthermia.

The cycle path out through clydebank was great, albeit slow progress. At one point we met 8 Swedish lejogers, whom we would leapfrog for most of the rest of the day. We arrived at Balloch feeling a bit sorry for ourselves, only to find John waiting for us. A chat, coffee and a lunch later we were reset and ready to go again.

The rain had stopped and we headed to the hills. If you've never been to Scotland it's hard to describe how breathtaking it really is. Glencoe is possibly the most beautiful place I've ever been. The downside is that you have to stop every mile of so to take more pictures. Between the cycle paths and photos it turned into a very long day and we arrived in Fort William at 8-30ish, 12.5 hrs after leaving and pretty shagged.

Tomorrow we've got an early start, our no-doubt lovely hotelier for the night in Bonar Bridge has insisted we arrive by 7pm for check-in and dinner, citing covid. "We are in the teeth of a pandemic" he messaged me. I'm sure an early dinner will solve it.
