LeJOG Day 1 - Lands End To Exeter

A long first day with a late start to avoid the RAB rabble at Lands End (We also drank too many beers last night so a late start suited us). A 100 miles later and our paths finally crossed the RAB as we caught the back markers, some utterly destroyed and like to be sent home having not made it to Okehampton within their time limit. Does that mean they spent £2k for a one day ride in Cornwall?

We chatted to a few of them including the charming American lady who dropped her shorts and relieved herself right in front of us. We eventually rode past their camp on to Exeter and the joys of a Premier Inn. Although dinner had finished, the lovely manager said she could make us one dish - kids macaroni cheese. Best meal of my life. That along with the wonderful barmaid Summer (who gave us some free beers) reminded me how a little kindness can make such a big impact. Tomorrow its the welcome flatlands to Monmouth.
